Saturday, May 19th – Request Ride

Although I don’t regularly teach on weekends, I always jump at the opportunity to cover a Saturday or Sunday class. I get to see new faces (particularly those that don’t like a 6am workout!) and I also get to sleep in a bit before hitting the saddle. The Saturday class I often cover is the “Request Ride,” our theme ride of the week. If you’re a weekend recyclist then you’ve probably seen me jamming out to glam rock, country, and the songs of summer on Saturday mornings. But this past weekend was a special occasion.

Since I was graduating on Sunday, my family was in town, and my younger sister was able to come to my class on Saturday morning. In honor of the graduating classes of 2012 throughout Boston, and of course keeping in the tradition of the Request Ride, I chose a celebration theme featuring an artist who was destined for Recycle fame: Girltalk.

Girltalk tracks are long, so I stuck with 4 of my all time favorites and mixed in some other recent additions to the ever-rotating ipod selection (“Dancing On My Own” was my theme song during the end of finals when I finished days after most of my peers).

The class was upbeat, fun, and the longer tracks made the time fly by. And the report from my sister? “Um, it was really hard.” Music to my ears.

I’m back in the saddle this Saturday at 10am for another Request ride! I’ll give you a hint on the theme – you would be my hero if you made it this weekend, but riding isn’t as easy as learning to walk -  perhaps giving these wheels a try will help you find the best of you.

Ideas??  Head to the studio webpage to sign up and find out – just 5 saddles left!
